JAMMU, Mar 9: Former Minister and senior Congress leader R S Chib, has strongly criticized the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Government of India, for enhancing the intake of PG students for GMC Srinagar by 28 students over and above the intake capacity, already approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), with effect from 2017-18 Academic Session.
Chib while talking to some senior ex-faculty members of GMC Jammu, expressed surprise that, not even a single PG seat has been increased in any of the disciplines in GMC Jammu. He described this action of the GoI, as a total neglect and humiliation for the people of Jammu region in general and the medical fraternity and students in particular.
Chib described it a highly motivated move by the Kashmir centric policies of the coalition partners and said that Jammu is being neglected at every step by the State Government. He further added that the onus of this Anti-Jammu decision lies with the PDP-BJP Government and especially the BJP, which has shown total disrespect to the mandate given by the people of Jammu.
Chib urged upon Ministry of Health and Medical Education to take up this matter with the Union Government so that our medical students get equal opportunities at par with Kas-hmir.
