JAMMU, June 9: A function was organized at village Raipur- Sayeedan in Suchetgarh to mark the 9th Death Anniversary of Grenadier Shaheed Vicky Singh, who sacrificed his life in Kashmir valley on June 9, 2006, while fighting the militants.
Former Minister and Member Rajya Sainik Board, J&K R S Chib was the chief guest on the occasion. Rich tributes were paid to the martyr by Mr Chib, some Army officers and prominent citizens of Tehsil Suchetgarh.
Sub Dharmesh Singh (Retd), father of the martyr also spoke on the occasion and said that he was proud to be father of Shaheed Vicky Singh. He said that his whole family will always remember his sacrifice for the country.
While highlighting the role of security forces in the State Mr Chib said that all those political and non-political forces which are advocating for revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) or indirectly supporting the language of Separatists and Pro-Pakistan elements can not be the well wishers of the nation and peace in the region. He asked the Govt not to pay attention to such type of utterances and the top brass of the security organizations should be taken into confidence before, tampering with the AFSPA.
He referred to the confused state of affairs in the State said that the State is passing through a very critical phase after the BJP-PDP alliance took over. This is for the first time that Pakistani flags are appearing in different rallies organized by the separatist and the page-2 secessionists and some other anti- India elements are raising their ugly heads in the valley. Mr Chib described it most unfortunate and alleged that BJP in Delhi as well as in the State is watching this situation as a silent spectator.
Mr Chib, while paying rich tributes to martyr recalled that Shaheed Vicky Singh laid down his life at Bandipora, Kashmir eight years back while combating against the militants in counter insurgency operation. Mr Chib said that his sacrifice cannot be forgotten by the Nation and he attained martyrdom at early age of 21 years.
While paying homage to our 20 great soldiers who scarified their life in North-East India, two minutes silence was observed by all as a mark of respect to the departed sole.
