JAMMU, Sept 5: Recalling the valor of security forces in upholding the integrity and sovereignty of the nation, Minister for Medical Education R S Chib today said that their supreme sacrifices will always remain a guiding force for the posterity besides infusing patriotic fervor among the youth.
Paying homage to Shaheed Romesh Lal of 8 Dogra Battallion, who achieved martyrdom while fighting Pakistan Army in Poonch, at the Shaheedi Diwas organised at Kaloen, R S Pura, Mr Chib said, “The country will always remain indebted for the supreme sacrifices of the brave soldiers in service of the nation”.
Mr Chib recalled the spirit of India’s great freedom struggle and said the people showed a high degree of unity irrespective of caste, creed and religion to free country from the shackles of British. He reminded the great sacrifices of Shaheed-e-Azam, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Chandershekhar, Ram Parsad Bismal, Ashfaq-Ullah Khan and said their spirit of patriotism will inspire the generations.
“Observance of such occasions in memory of martyrs is imperative to recall the sacrifices of those who scripted a saga of valour as this will be of great help in enthusing a patriotic fervor among the youth who are unfortunately marching towards self decay”, he asserted.
The Minister fervently appealed the youth to help weed out social evils from the society by channelizing their energies in a right perspective as the onus of a strong nation lies on their shoulders.
The Minister also mentioned the details about the people of R S Pura especially Deva Batala who served and sacrificed while serving in the security forces. He said that the area has a magnificent history of serving in the Army and are still doing a commendable job in this field.
SDM, R S Pura, Suraj Rakwal, DSP, Tehsildar, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens also paid tributes to the martyr.
Responding to locals’ demand, the Minister asked the officers to prepare a proposal for naming of local school as Shaheed Romesh Lal Memorial High School for consideration of the concerned authorities.
