JAMMU, Sept 5: Former Minister, R.S Chib has claimed no progress on various projects in R.S Pura Sub Division for last five years.
Addressing a gathering at R.S Pura on 22nd death anniversary of Martyr Ramesh Lal at Kaloen, Chib made a special reference of four lanning of Jammu cantt to Suchetgarh Road, the work on which started 10 years back.
“It is unfortunate that no progress has been made on the road till date,” Chib said adding that the authorities should complete the project at the earliest.
He claimed that a large number of tourists use this road to visit Indo-Pak border everyday and Suchetgarh which is situated on IB has been brought under border tourism scheme.
Chib welcomed the decision of the government to equate the residents of IB with those of LoC in respect of providing reservation in jobs.
He said there is a need to review the rules made for the people residing along IB in line with those residing at LoC.
Chib said that Sepoy Ramesh Lal sacrificed his life on 5th September 1998 at Poonch while fighting militants. He paid tributes to the martyr and remembered all bravehearts who attained martyrdom while fighting militants.
Chib made a special reference to Jawans who laid down their lives in Galwan valley fighting Chinese troops.
Ch. Mohinder Singh, Sapanches, Gurdayal Singh, Surjit Singh, S. Gurmeet Singh, Ex-Sarpanch, Naresh Bitoo, Smt Krishna Devi, mother of Sepoy Ramesh Lal along with his family members and others were also present on the occasion.
BSF and Army Jawans also paid their floral tributes to the martyr.
