JAMMU, Sept 17: The two day event at Surinsar Mansar lake festival got off to a colourful start on Saturday with local cultural performances, adventures activities, LED tron act and a vibrant laser show at Surinsar Lake.

The festival was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, J&K Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, in presence of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekanand Rai and Sh. Gurwinder Jeet Singh, CEO Surinsar Mansar Development Authority.
The day long activities started from two adventure events viz trekking from Nagrota to Aithem via Pehad Devta and artificial wall climbing at Surinsar in association with M/s Tawi Adventures.The breathtaking views of Shivalik uplands and greenery on the spiritual journey to Baba Pehad was indeed picturesque while the challenge of artificial wall climbing was audicuous.Over 100 participants from different from schools and colleges took part in these activities.
Speaking on the Occasion Viveknanda Rai said that Surinsar Lake is a perfect weekend gateway for travellers.The event is a small endeavour towards development of some kind of activity near Surinsar Lake which is also a Ramsar protection site.The festival offers a mixed bag of art, culture entertainment and adventure.
Later in the evening nature walk was conducted around the serene Surinsar Lake in association with Department of Wildlife Protection. The nature walk was attended by various officers/officials of tourism department, forest department Surinsar Mansar Development Authority, students from SMVDU, GGM science college etc, Sarpanches and Panches of local Panchayat who led the walk.Also Local Cultural performances like Geetru, Dogri Folk dances etc were held in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. These performances provided the guests an unparalleled experience of insights into the unique culture of Jammu Region.
The major attraction of the show was LED Tron act and Laser Show.The laser show featuring intense colours with music ranging from Jai ho to Vande Matram left everyone in awe. The LED Tron act performers connected through Dance, Music and light added to everyone’s delight.The show ended with a virtual cracker show.
Surinsar Lake Festival was a dream come true for adventure and music aficionados. The event offered a plethora of adventure activities like artificial wall climbing, rope obstacles course etc. alongwith celebrations in the form of folk music, dance and laser show.
