Sir,
Child neglect by deprivation is a willful denial of basic necessities to children. It usually happens in families usually indulging in anti-social activities like drug abuse, gambling, crime and smuggling etc. Family dispute, divorce, marital conflict are also factors responsible for the malice.
Parents indulging in child abuse may hurt children physically by using stick, their hands, feet and even teeth that can injure the child. The child gets mentally retarted and physically ill. A variety of injuries, cuts, scars fractures may be observed on the body of abused children. Child abuse is an outcome of frustration and intolerance on the part of parents. Innocent children become victim for no fault of theirs. Parents who cannot control anger, depression, isolation burst out on their children, especially when they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Poverty and stress have also been the cause of child abuse.
The primary factor being family stress that originates from social, psychological, medical and other economic factors as well. Poverty only plays secondary role because most of the poor families raise their children satisfactorily. The inhuman sexual abuse like rape is not an unusual phenomena in India. It is an animal instinct and a sexual interaction wherein an adult forces his will on the child.
Neglected children may be seen as beggars, porters street vendors, newspaper hawkers, hotel waiters and shoe-shine boys on the main roads of a city. Exposed to inhuman and unhealthy treatment they may develope a taste for criminal and anti-social activities. They are even inducted into pronography, prostitution and forced labour. It is never late to fight for the injustice while keeping in view the plight of our children deprived and abused. It is a stigma which needs to be wiped once for all.
Yours etc….
