Child drowns in Basantar

SAMBA, June 4: A child of migrant factory worker family here today died after drowning in Basantar River.
According to reports six years old Nishu, son of Mahaveer, resident of Farukabad, Uttar Pradesh, presently living in Chak Manga Rakwal in Samba was coming from school on Saturday afternoon, along with his two friends and they went towards Basantar River to take a bath where Nishu drowned and seeing him drowning his friends ran away out of fear.
After the incident Nishu’s family started searching for him but when he was not found, they informed police. Taking cognizance, the police conducted a search operation along with family members of the missing child till late night.
Finally, after searching in Basantar River this morning, dead body of the child was found.
After postmortem the body was handed over to relatives for last rites.
Both the parents of the child work in a private factory in Samba.
