Children Day, Gurupurab celebrated with fervour

JAMMU, Nov 16: Children Day and Gurupurab were celebrated across Jammu province with fervour and zeal.
Vinayak Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great fervour and gaiety. Chairman of Institute Amardeep Singh highlighted the contribution of Guruji to the society and to mankind. He also stressed upon the teaching of Guruji.
Gurupurab was celebrated at Luthra Public School Talab Tillo, Palace Road and Shemrock Angels, Talab Tillo Jammu. Principal Sanjeev Luthra and Chairman Rajeev Luthra threw light on the teaching of great Guru and his contribution for upliftment of humanity and human value for the betterment of human society and his pragmatic approach to life, face to face interaction with people throughout world irrespective of caste, creed and colour.
Banyan International School celebrated Children’s Day. A special morning assembly was conducted on this occasion wherein various cultural programmes were presented by the teachers as well as students. On the occasion, Prerna Kumara of class IV was awarded a scholarship of Rs 5,000 under third Girl Child Scholarship scheme in collaboration with Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). Principal Shounak Lahiri emphasized the importance of treating the children with tenderness and care so that they blossom into positive contributors to the society. Meehu Mahajan was also present on the occasion.
Guru Nanak’s 524th birth anniversary was celebrated at MV International School. The Ragi Jatha, in their sweet voice, sang the praise of almighty and explained the Guru’s message of brotherhood, honest living, high thinking and equality in the society. Gourav Abrol, Director urged everyone to follow the teachings of the Guru Nanak. Academic Advisor Harbans Singh highlighted the Guru’s lifelong struggle to put the people on the path of righteousness.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated Gurupurab. Tribute was paid to Guru Nanak Dev ji by the Co-ordinators Prabhjot Kaur and Nidhi Kohli. Teachers and students spoke on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, followed by poem recitation and shabad kirtan.
Swar Raga organized a cycle race on the eve of Children Day from Qasim Nagar to Sidhra, in which students from various institutions participated. Farooq Ahmed and Anwar Khan, students of Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School bagged second and third positions and were awarded with bicycles, whereas Mohammad Aaqib of same school was given Rs 1,000 cash award for securing fourth rank.
