UDHAMPUR, Oct 11: An eleven day tour was organised by Dehradun based NGO “PURKAL” for 30 teenage boys and girls along with four teachers from Oct 3 to 12 with assistance from the Army.
These children visited Jammu, Bhaderwah, Doda, Pahalgam, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Udhampur, Nagrota and Vashino Devi.  The tour enabled the students to learn about the rich historical and cultural canvas of the State.  These students interacted with local students of the same age group and exchanged views and ideas besides forming bonds of friendship. The teachers shared teaching methodologies and practises followed in their respective schools.  The tour provided the young students an insight into the lives of the local people.
An interaction with Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, ADC, left a lasting impression on the children and they shared their views on the rich experience gained. The Army Commander expressed his happiness on their J&K visit and encouraged them to make the best use of the visit in their lives.
Nisha Mengwal, one of the lady teachers accompanying the students remarked, “all my apprehensions and inhibitions were put to rest, when I interacted with the loving and caring people I met”. She further added “the situation in the State is peaceful and lot better from what we had heard and on return we shall share our experiences.”
