JAMMU, Nov 14: Children’s Day was celebrated today in various educational institutions across the State to pay tribute to 1st Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 129th birth anniversary.
To mark the celebrations, a special program was organized at Chenab College of Education. The program commenced with a patriotic song presented by the students of B.Ed, which was followed by speeches, skits and songs. The highlight of the day was a lecture by Gourav Goel, CEO Maxmind India and performance of the kids of Maxmind.

Ramisht College of Education, Basohli celebrated Children’s Day in the college campus. The students played different games and also organized a cultural program in the college. Some students also spoke on the importance of the Day.
On the occasion of Children Day, NSS unit of Model Institute of Engineering & Technology ‘Prayaas’ dedicated renovated toilets for boy and girl students to Government Middle School, Amb village.
To celebrate the occasion, Government Degree College (GDC) Samba in collaboration with District Red Cross Society organized a symposium on the themes– Child & Adolescent Labour and Child Protection & Rights. Dr Arun Manhas, Additional DC Samba, was the chief guest on the occasion.
To mark the Children’s Day, the International Kid’s Film Festival -2018 was inaugurated at Sainik School Nagrota by JP Singh, Inspector General of Police (Personnel), J&K. During the four-day long festival, the films will be screened in five shows daily for four days to facilitate children of Government as well as private schools in Jammu region to watch and learn from these films.
DPS Jammu celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety to mark the birth anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. Various activities like dance performances, group songs, solo songs, etc were organized to mark the event. Earlier, a special assembly was conducted which began with floral tributes to Pt Nehru by the Principal and Headmistress.
GD Goenka Public School, Jammu celebrated the Day with enthusiasm in Goenkan Acres. The programme commenced with a mesmerizing musical performance by Surya Dinesh. An internationally known spiritual Music Therapist and Meditation Guru delivered a motivational speech and appraised the children to achieve their goals by being stress free & thinking positive.
The students of MHAC Nagbani showcased their immense talent and creativity in Rangoli, Matka Decoration & Fancy Dress competitions held today on Children’s Day in the school premises. The Kindergarten students celebrated the day by participating in Fancy Dress Competition. The first three winners of the competitions were awarded.
The birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Pt Nehru, was celebrated at DPS Udhampur with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted in which teachers gave various performances for the students in order to express their love and care for them. Principal of the school, Dr Kunal Anand, motivated the students to follow the footsteps of Pt Nehru.
Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety at Crescent Public School, Janipur, Jammu. The Crescentians saw their own reflections on their stage in the form of their teachers who presented special assembly. The special attractions were the skit and dance performed by the teachers.
To celebrate the occasion, a special assembly was conducted in Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana in which rich tributes were paid to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. Children presented a song and dance programme to commemorate the mega event. A fun fair was organized where children played games like feed the lion, musical chairs, hit the target, try your luck and so on.
The birth anniversary of Pt Nehru was celebrated by students and staff of Mother India Senior Secondary School, RS Pura with the special children of Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan, RS Pura. A cake was cut to celebrate the occasion. Eatables including cake, chocolates, chips, cold drinks and fruits were distributed among the children of Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan.
In connection with Children Day, a colourful and impressive function was held at Sai Shyam Educational Society, Ghou-Manhasan, Jammu in which students of Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School participated. Many students threw light on the life and achievements of Pt Nehru. Some students also sang patriotic songs and presented skits.
A colourful function was also organized in connection with birthday of Chacha Nehru in the premises of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura. The students enthralled the audience with melodious patriotic songs and different cultural programmes. Sweets and chocolates were also distributed among the students by the Management of the school.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated the occasion in a grand way by organizing various activities like dancing and singing competition, poem recitation, fancy dress competition and skits. Teachers were dressed like children and enacted skits, recited poems and conducted morning assembly for the children to make their day wonderful and enjoyable.
In connection with the Children Day celebration, a massive Bal Mela was organized at SRML Higher Secondary School, Jammu by Directorate of School Education Jammu. Children of different schools of Jammu along with their parents participated with full enthusiasm and visited various stalls organized by different schools.
Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya, Jullaka Mohalla, Jammu celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. The students presented cultural items. Some students also threw light on the life of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students.
To mark the occasion, a function was also organized in ASN Higher Secondary School, Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu. The students from Nursery to higher classes participated in the function and presented songs and dances. The teachers threw light on the importance of the Day.
Children’s Day was celebrated with pomp and show at Shubh Memorial International School (SMIS), Akhnoor. The special attractions were the group dance with cartoon character, tatoo corner, bouncy and music. The day commenced with a special assembly wherein the teachers were seen singing the prayer and presenting the news and thought for the day.
To celebrate the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, a special assembly was conducted in AOC Higher Secondary School, Subash Nagar, Udhampur. Teachers came dressed like school students and conducted the assembly. Various cultural items like dances, songs, skits, etc were presented by students of classes 4th to 10th. Certain games were also there to entertain students.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School organized a colourful function to celebrate Children’s Day. The main attraction of the function was the Bal Mela organized in the school. The school was beautifully decorated by the handmade creative materials. Talent hunt games were also organized for the students. Different stalls of delicious eatables and games were there for the students.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rehari celebrated the birth anniversary of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru with great enthusiasm.
On the occasion of Children’s Day, Member Parliament Shamsher Singh Manhas laid the foundation stone of additional structure of School building at Government Higher Secondary School, Paloura.
BSF School, Jammu celebrated the occasion in the school campus. The celebration began with the garlanding of Pt Nehru’s portrait by Principal Dr S K Shukla. A wide range of innovative and fun filled activities were organized. Various competitions such as Rangoli, pot painting, salad making, etc were organized to mark the event.
Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, paid tributes to Pt Nehru on his birth anniversary at a Children’s Day function at Krishna Public High School, Pantalla. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sharma threw light on the contribution of Pt Nehru in the development of the Country.

Children’s Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm in the Doon International School. A special assembly was conducted by the teachers acting as students. They presented thought for the day, news and amazing facts with a pinch of humour. A special medley of songs was also presented by them. Children enjoyed dance with their teachers.
Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. A special assembly was conducted by the teachers, during which teachers along with students paid tribute to Chacha Nehru by garlanding their picture and showering flowers. Besides this, many fun activities like skits, songs, and poems were presented by the teachers.
The birthday of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru was celebrated with great zeal in Galaxy Public School. The tiny tots dressed in colourful attires, sang, acted and danced with lots of joy and confidence. The young ones mesmerized the audience with scintillating performance by modeling on the son ‘Bache Mann Ke Sachee’.
The celebrations of Children’s Day were also held at Kartar Public School, Barnoti, where in a special assembly, students presented speeches, skits, dances and quotes.
On this eve, a small function was organized at Vikas Academy High School, Jammu. The students presented songs and dances and delivered lectures highlighting the importance of the Day.
A function in connection with birthday of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru was also organized at Vidya Jyoti Model High School, Indira Colony, Janipur, Jammu. A poetry competition was organized on the occasion. Students also presented songs and skits.
The Day was also celebrated at Government Girls High School, Chak Malal, where both students and teachers threw light on the importance of celebrating Children’s Day. Headmaster Survesha Kumari in her speech highlighted the importance of the day. She also threw light on the life and teachings of Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Children’s Day was celebrated in the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sunjuwan where seven schools of Jammu cluster came together to celebrate the day. A quiz and drawing competition depicting life of Chacha Nehru were organized.
The occasion was celebrated at IDPS Garten with everyone in high spirits and exuberating. Kids enjoyed the musical and dance performances by their teachers and were completely involved with them. Teachers gave musical performance, performed skit and a fashion show of the subjects they teach.
Indira Kids Playway School, Shant Nagar Janipur celebrated the birth anniversary of Pt Nehru in the school premises with enthusiasm and zeal. Children attired in colourful dresses participated in various activities. Chairman of the Institution Sanjay Padha, Principal Rashu Padha, Shaveta Gupta, Coordinator and staff members were also present. While speaking, Chairman Sanjay Padha threw light on the life and teaching of Jawahar Lal Nehru popularly known as ‘Chacha Nehru’.
The Pathways International School, Kathua celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety. During the special assembly, the teachers brought to light the life history of ‘Chacha Nehru’. From dance performances to skits around classroom scenarios, the students thoroughly enjoyed their teachers performing for them, and made for an enthusiastic audience.
Madhuvan Kids Playway School Shastri Nagar and Babliana celebrated Children’s Day with zeal and enthusiasm.
Skill Sharpening Playway School, Gole Panjpeer also celebrated the occasion. The students performed cultural programmes and the Principal highlighted the importance of the Day.
Silver Bells High School also celebrated the Day where the School Chairperson Vijay Laxmi Dutta threw light on the life of Pt Nehru.

91.9 RED FM & Wave Cinemas jointly celebrated Children’s Day as a CSR initiative making the day special and all festive for children of Jammu. The initiative was marked with free screening of the movie for around 150 home mates and staff of Balgran Charitable Home for Destitute Children. The children enjoyed the latest movie with refreshments. The celebrations culminated with the cake cutting specially made for the occasion at the Wave Mall.
To commemorate the Birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, District Information Centre, Ramban organized a function at Paryas Hemkrish Model High School, Govindpura, Maita Ramban. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the artists and students.

To mark the occasion, District Jail Udhampur screened a documentary ‘Ujadta Chaman’ showing the impact of drug addiction on human life.
