JAMMU, Nov 14: The birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru popularly known as ‘Children’s Day’ was celebrated with great pomp and show.
As a mark of celebrating Children’s Day and to spread pediatrics dental health care awareness in the society, a free dental camp was organized for children in the village Navgram, Bishnah, Jammu by the Department of Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry, IDS, Sehora Jammu. Dr Bhavneet Kaur, HOD, Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry emphasised on understanding the significance of child dental health care and stressed upon incorporating a healthy balanced diet along with maintaining a proper regular oral hygiene routine for attaining optimal dental health in children. Free health packets were distributed by the team amongst all the children attending the camp. Dr Sarbjeet Singh, Principal said that the Institute of Dental Sciences strives to serve the society in all possible ways and shall always keep doing so in the future as well.
To commemorate the day, GDC Vijaypur organized a cultural bonanza in the college with the aim to chisel, carve and unleash the inner qualities of the students as children are the real strength of the Nation and foundation of a society. The programme was initiated by welcome address of Dr Shittal Sharma. In the symposium, the first position was secured by Aman Sharma of Sem III, second position by Supriya Slathia of Sem V while the third position by Simran Kour of Sem I. In poetry competition, the first, second and third positions were secured by Manu Devi of Sem III, Nikita Pandit of Sem V and Jyoti Sharma of Sem III respectively. The special attraction of the programme was the devotional song enchanted by Sheetal of Sem III and a patriotic song sung by Rameshwar Singh Sambyal. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College.
NSS unit of Government MAM College under the patronage of College Principal Dr GS Rakwal celebrated Children’s Day by distributing clothes and other various items to the children living in slums and on footpaths. The event was conducted under the supervision of NSS Pos Dr Koushal Kiran Thakur and Prof Shabir Ahmed.
To make children feel special this year the teachers of Sunrise Public School, Channi Himmat celebrated Children’s Day in the community area with full zeal and zest. A colourful program was presented by the students. A Fun Quiz was taken by the Director Manpreet Kour which the children enjoyed and laughed their hearts out. Founder Rajesh Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated Children’s Day with gaiety. On the occasion, teachers did fabulous job by showcasing their talent through various activities. An instrumental show was presented by Music Department, a craft video by Sapna, beautiful poem recitation by Rachna, Pooja and Rasmeet but the attraction of the day was a dance performance by pre primary wing teachers looking like small kids. The chief guest of the occasion was Rohini Aima Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson of JSS Jammu.
International Daily Rising School held an open house meet and Children’s Day celebration based on the theme ‘Halloween’. The school organized an Oozy Boozy Halloween party for children in the school premises where the main attractions were dance, painting, bouncy, tattoo, pumpkin drop , tic tac toe, hit the head, refreshments and many more. All the kids were dressed up in Halloween dresses. The school kids won rewards and prizes for their active participation in all the games held in the fest. One other attraction of the fest was the Halloween selfie point where children posed cutely in spite dressed up as ghosts and goblins. Atul Hans Director-cum-Principal of the School, Supinder Kaur, Chairperson of IDRS and Raghav Gupta, Managing Director IDRS were also present on the occasion.
On the eve of Children’s Day, a ‘Display Your Talent’ programme was organized at Mother India Senior Secondary School, RS Pura in which the students of class 12th participated in various categories like Cooking, Painting, Rangoli, Art and Craft, Model Making and Science Projects. On the occasion, Sonia Tohra, Principal of the School, inspected all the categories. At the end of the function, gifts were distributed to all the participants.
Children’s Day was celebrated in Government HSS Ramnagar. On the occasion, children showcased their talent in singing, dancing and speech making. A number of children were felicitated on the occasion by the Principal Tarsem Singh for their outstanding performance in various competitions during the year. Vice Principal Ashutosh Parashar was also present on the occasion.
Bal Diwas was celebrated at Evergreen Public High School Bhagwanchak under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Karan Singh. Dr Romesh Chander was the chief guest of the event. Other dignitaries present were Capt BR Radha, Ex-Lecturer Jagdev Singh, Retd Lecturer Suraj Singh, SSP Ashok Singh Chib, Retd Teacher Balvinder Singh and Dr Parshotam Lal.
The staff members of RM Public School celebrated Children’s Day. The chief guest on the occasion was Chairman Rameshwar Mengi while the special guest was Kaynat Mirza, Ex-student of the school who brought laurels to school by clearing NEET Entrance examination. The other guests included Risheek Mengi, Director Pushap Vatika and teachers from sister concern. An amazing sequence of events was presented by the teachers which included songs, dances, skits and games to involve the children. Kajal Bhasin, Vice Principal of the school encouraged the teachers for their efforts in her vote of thanks.
FICCI FLO JKL celebrated Children’s Day at GMS Tikri, District Udhampur. Chairperson FICCI FLO J&K and Ladakh Ritu Singh initiated a drive starting at the rural level to spread a conscious movement to address social evils of society engaging members of FICCI FLO JKL to participate in the same. Member Kamakshi Dewan produced the first edition of FICCI FLO JKL’s Nukad Natak with a strong message emphasising “Say No to Drugs”. Chairperson Ritu Singh accompanied by Senior Vice Chairperson Varuna Anand, Kamakshi Dewan, Principal & the faculty of Government Middle School and Sarpanch of Village Tikri cut a cake and presented gifts in a highly charged atmosphere of celebration with dancing, music, laughter and anecdotes. Children expressed their eagerness to learn computers and to be skilled through story books in English to the team and Ritu Singh promised to meet the same at the earliest.
On the eve of Children’s Day, Ajatshatru Singh, President RCT & Ritu Singh, Trustee RCT invited 25 children from the weaker section of society to celebrate the day in the premises of Delhi Public School, Jammu. Amidst singing and honouring the children, Ajatshatru Singh and Ritu Singh have magnanimously given financial assistance for the education of these 25 children at the respective schools they are currently studying in. Keeping the tradition of the RCT alive, Ajatshatru Singh also honoured Raghubir Singh from Sunisar, by giving him financial assistance for the forthcoming wedding of his daughter. The function was attended by the Principal Delhi Public School, Jammu Ruchi Chabbra and the faculty of DPS, Nagbani and Katra. Also present were members of the RCT, Col Jamwal and Ashok Dogra.
On the eve of Children’s Day and World Disability Day, the Global Peace Organization organized a free medical cum dental camp at Muskan Home for Mentally Challenged Channi Rama Jammu. In this camp, MK Bhardwaj President J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu was the special guest who made donations for the inmates. The management apprised Bhardwaj about the problems being faced by the inmates and their immediate requirements. In this camp, Dr Deepak Kumar Deputy Superintendent, Incharge COVID Hospital, Dr Mehmood Riaz Wani a famous Dentist, Dr Shah Nawaz Pediatrician and Neurologist, Dr Amjad Bhat and Dr Surya Sharma participated and treated dozens of the mentally challenged souls and staff members of Muskan Home for Mentally Challenged. Advocate Rashi Baru, Vice Chairperson of the organization distributed eatables.
On the birthday anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, Pawan Raina Secretary PCC J&K paid tribute to him. Raina also distributed notebooks, pens and fruits among children. On the occasion, Panch Hari Chand, Congress Youth Leader Kushwant Singh, Tuifal Hussain, Ashok Kumar, Suresh Kumar and many others were present.
