NEW DELHI, Feb 19: Chilli prices fell by Rs 76 to Rs 6,952 per quintal in futures trade today due to heavy selling by speculators amid reports of higher output this season.
Subdued demand from retailers and stockists also impacted the market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in April fell further by Rs 76, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 6,952 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,420 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in March lost Rs 70, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 6,782 per quintal in 7,605 lots.
Marketmen said reduced offtake by speculators following subdued spot market demand and reports of better output this season mainly influenced chilli futures. (PTI)
