Chilli, turmeric up on fall in supply

NEW DELHI, Apr 29: Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by retailers and stockists amid low stocks.

Fall in supplies from producing belts amid estimates of lower ouput also supported the upside in prices.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 6,700-12,000 and Rs 7,700-13,600 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing regions, mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

They said turmeric prices rose on the back of lower crop estimates and rising domestic as well as export demand.
