China Nobel winner Mo Yan hopes for jailed laureate’s freedom

GAOMI, CHINA, Oct 12: Chinese Nobel Literature Prize winner Mo Yan said today that he hoped the jailed 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Liu Xiaobo, can “achieve freedom  soon”.
Mo, who was speaking at a press conference in his hometown in northern Shandong province, has come under fire for shying away from commenting on Liu’s plight. Liu, jailed in 2009, is serving an 11-year sentence for inciting subversion of state power.
