China to invest over $584mln in Tajikistan’s industry

DUSHANBE, June 23 : Tajikistan and China signed agreements to invest over 6 billion somoni ($584.5 million) in Tajikistan’s industry, including the construction of an iron ore processing plant and the supply of vehicles, the Tajik State Committee for Investments and State Property Management said.

“Tajikistan and China signed agreements on investments in Tajikistan’s industry worth over 6 billion somoni, or $584.5 million, during a trade and investment forum held in Dushanbe and attended by over 150 representatives and investors from the two countries,” the agency said in a statement on Saturday.

The countries signed agreements on the construction of an iron ore processing plant in northern Tajikistan, the supply of electric vehicles for taxis in Dushanbe, and the provision of a credit line for special equipment and production equipment, among other things, the statement added.

The total volume of Chinese investments in Tajikistan over the past 10 years has amounted to more than $3.8 billion. (UNI)
