Beijing, Jul 20: China has witnessed a sharp increase in the number of online court sessions and mediations in the first half of 2020, according to the Supreme People’s Court (SPC).
From January to June, the number of online court sessions and mediations increased by 900 percent and 245 percent year on year, respectively.
Amid the COVID-19 epidemic, courts at all levels have stepped up efforts to carry out online case filing, mediation and enforcement, with 13.2 million cases newly filed and 10.8 million concluded, said the SPC.
In terms of the performance of individual courts, the court of Chaoyang District in Beijing reported the largest number of cases filed and concluded among all primary-level courts across the country.
The Chaoyang court filed 19,248 cases and opened over 27,400 sessions online during the six-month period, according to the SPC.
