Chirag, Vinod, Sharsh emerge winners in prelim round of Devotional Song Competition

JAMMU, Oct 7: As part of ongoing Navratra Festival, All India Devotional Song Competition (AIDSC) entered in next round at Katra.
The programme started with the lighting of a traditional lamp by Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K State, Sangeeta Gupta.
In the preliminary round, Chirag Kotwal from Bhaderwah was adjudged first, while Vinod Kumar from Punjab was adjudged second and third position was clinched by Sharsh Talwar from Jammu. They were provided cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.
The Competition was adjudged by the panel of music experts including Dr CL Verma, Ex-Dean and Chairperson Himachal Pardesh University Shimla, Dr Surinder Sharma, HOD in Government College of Shimla and HG Roy, Retired from Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi.
The proceedings of competition were conducted by Chairman of the event Rakesh Wazir.
Sonali Dogra, former Winner of the Competition also entertained the audience with her sweet and melodious voice.
Meanwhile, a Shobha Yatra-cum-Cultural Procession was also taken out, which commenced from Asia Chowk and after passing through Main bazar and Bus stand culminated at Yog Ashram Katra.
Principal Commissioner Income Tax Sangeeta Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
Among others present were SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria, Deputy Director Tourism Meenakshi Koul, ASP Sumir Kotwal, AD Tourism Dr Umesh Shan, Tehsildar Katra Mohit Raina, SDPO Dr Ashok Sharma, SHO Arvind Sambyal, Chairman Jhankies Committee, Surinder Khajuria, Chairman Bhagwad Katha, Sardari Lal Dubey, Chairman Hotelier Association Katra Sham Lal Kesar, Verinder Keser and others.
However, two days scintillating presentation of the dances of the Jammu and Kashmir entitled ‘Celebrating Diversity’ conceptualised, designed and directed by Balwant Thakur and presented by Natrang Jammu concluded at auditorium of Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra in the ongoing Navratra Festival. This presentation was inaugurated by Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB who was joined by SDM Katra. The presentation was presided over by Piyush Singla, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB. The dancers who vibrated the stage included Rahul Singh, Sunny Mujoo, Ankush Bhasin, Nikhil Manhas, Aarti Slathia, Naina Sharma, Bindia, Jyoti Kumari, Saloni Verma, Shazia Batool, Simran Kaur and Rakesh Kumar Kona.
