JAMMU, Aug 4: The choked nallah near Telephone Exchange, Bantalab has created havoc for the residents, whereas the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) remained unmoved despite repeated projection of the issue by the residents.
The matter came to light, when the residents residing near the choked nallah near Telephone Exchange, Bantalab with silt and stones visited the EXCELSIOR office today.
The residents flayed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for its failure in getting cleaned the choked nallah near Telephone Exchange opposite Rajinder Nagar Colony.
They informed that the nallah near Telephone Exchange has choked for the past several months, but the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) failed to get it cleaned, thereby putting the life of the people at the risk of health hazard. Dumps of garbage and stones in this nallah resulted in getting this choked, the residents said.
Due to rains, the stone and sand got accumulated there, due to which the nallah broke its banks and the dirty water gushed on to road and also enter the residential houses, nearby school and the business establishments near Telephone Exchange and its surroundings.
“We informed Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) about this grave problem many times, but nothing has been done till date”, the residents alleged.
When contacted, Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC told the EXCELSIOR that the matter will be taken up with the concerned officials so that the nallah get cleaned as soon as possible.
