LEH, Dec 5: Executive Councillor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus released the Chospa Creations’ local movie “Jigsten”, here today.
Lower Leh Phunchok Wangdan Shunu was guest of honour while Councillors, Padma Shree Morup Namgyal, Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee Mipham Otsal, Christian Association president Dechen Chamga and other invited guest were also present to witness the event.
Watching Boolywood film inspired the Producer cum Director Tsering Motup Chospa who is also a cameraman, Editor, Actor, Cinematographer and make up to set up his own production house. Jigsten was shot at various locations Neemo, Sakti, Gya, Taklang la, Warila, and Korzok. Movie song lyric by Zangpo Serthi and Changchub Phyang was sung by Tashi Chospel, Dorjay Stakmo, Tsering Chorol and Padma Dolker. Movie showcases the Ladakhi old customs blended with modern technique.
Expressing his delight over performances of local artist, EC Wangdus said that movie maintains the Ladakhi tradition and applauded the young artist for exhibiting their talent without any hesitation. He stressed the audience to take a cue from the movie to benefit others and assured helps from Hill Council for early completion of Leh Auditorium Hall to screen the movies in future.
Pertinent to mention here that Chospa Creation is the first local production house to produce local video Album “Hai Gawe Nyemo” in 2000 and later produced 16 video album, 21 tele film, 100 tele serial episode and 6 feature films. Last production “Zadol” fetched the Ladakh International Film Festival awards.
Giving a brief introduction about local production Houses organization, Ladakh Media and Culture Society Advisor Chetan Angchok informed that film making started in Ladakh around 1990 and so far 32 Production houses produced 50 feature films, 5 comedy, 4 short film and number of documentaries. He mentioned about various challenges for movie makers such as limited viewers, lack of proper Institutional training to artist and lack of proper space for screening films.
On the occasion, chief guest felicitated the Producer, Director, Artist and other stakeholder.
