JAMMU, Jan 12: Chowkidars and Numberdars of J&K UT today projected their demands with regard to regularization of their services and enhancement of honorarium before the Chief Minister and submitted a delaited memorandum.
While submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister here today, they said that Chowkidars and Numberdars are being provided very meagre amount as remuneration. They are also struggling for the regularization of their services. But their issues remained unresolved since long.
They said the Government is fully aware of the fact that, we have been serving the Union Territory diligently, ensuring the maintenance of law and order, revenue collection, and providing essential services to the public up to their entire satisfaction.
The members of this neglected fraternity are demanding regularization of their services. They should be provided job security, thus safeguarding their future.
They further said that considering increased responsibilities and their daily house hold chores, these people should be given a substantial hike in honorarium to meet the rising cost of living.
Referring to the social security benefits, they sought provisions of social security benefits, including health insurance, pension, and education assistance for our families.
They also stressed for infrastructure development including office spaces, equipment, like laptop, desktop and communication facilities.
They said Numberdars and Chowkidars have to move to and fro for the revenue works from parent tehsils and districts to the capital city and require hefty amounts for carrying out the public task in a purposeful manner. In this context fasttag payment is one of the hurdles and they may please be exempted from this burden.
