CHRA expresses concern over unscheduled power cuts

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 29: The members of Channi Himmat Residents Association (CHRA) today expressed serious concern over the unscheduled power cuts in their area.
In this regard a meeting of the association was held under the chairmanship of its President Advocate V.K. Grover in which the issue of unscheduled power curtailment in Channi Himmat area was discussed.
The members very strongly resented frequent unscheduled Power Curtailment in the Colony without giving any prior Notice resulting in burning down of costly domestic and official electronic gadgets and none from the administration is prepared to own responsibility for these negligent curtailments.
On investigation at our own level we have found that ostensibly the main reason for this is the power theft, which is being caused in connivance with the PDD staff who are collecting illegal gratification from Jugiwalas and also from some of the other rich persons as also from the under construction buildings in the locality.
All this is a slur on the claim of the administration to make Jammu a Smart City.
The members further demanded an impartial enquiry into the matter, and sought a strict action against the officials if any found involved in such criminal activities, otherwise we shall be constrained to resort to other methods like approaching the Crime Branch and other such agencies for appropriate action.
A representation regarding this negligent lapse of the administration has been brought to the notice of Chief Engineer, PDD with copy endorsed to the Principal Secretary for prompt action in this matter.
Among others who attended the meeting included Raj Kumar Gupta, P.K. Talwar, Rajesh Pandoh, B.D. Chargotra, B.B. Gandotra, Adarsh Pandoh, Mohan Gupta, Dr. Umesh Gandotra, P.L. Kohli and Tilak Raj Soi.
