Christian community takes out procession

JAMMU, Mar 25: JKPCC Secretary and social activist Vicky Mahajan led a religious procession here today at the beginning of holy week before the Easter Sunday.
The procession was taken out from Indian Evangelical Church, Jail Road, Ambphalla, under the  chairmanship of Robin Bhatti and church priest Raju Masih.
The procession, which was preceded by special prayers, was also attended by Shoukat Peter, President of J&K Joint Churches Fellowship, Jammu.
Easter is the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Christ and held between 21 March and 25 April, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.
Today is Palm Sunday which marks Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It is also the beginning of holy week before the Easter Sunday which is the resurrection day of Jesus from the death.
Special invitee Vicky Mahajan, David Babbloo, President of All India Masih Seva Dal, Gourav Chopra and Parshotam Mehra, General Secretary of District Congress Committee (Jammu Urban), besides members of the Christian community participated in the procession.
