Christians take out colourful religious procession ahead of Christmas

JAMMU, Dec 22: Ahead of forthcoming Christmas festival, a colourful religious procession was taken out by the Joint Churches of Jammu and local Christian community, here today.
Santa Clause, the Angels, Tableaux, artists attired as then King Herod and soldiers of Roman army on horses, were special attractions in the procession, which took off from St Paul Church at Residency Road and passed through main markets of the city before culmination at Shahidi Chowk.
The choirs of different churches were seen singing in the praises of God and songs relating to the birth of Jesus Christ. A large number of people from Christian community, including women and children, took part in the colourful procession.
The Market associations at many places gave a warm welcome to the procession and offered refreshment to the participants. The procession passed through Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Raj Tilak Road, Rani Park, Kachi Chawni, Chowk Chabutra, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi and Kanak Mandi.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration and Police authorities for security and facilitation of the participants.
The main organizers of the procession were Rev Udhay Singh (Priest of St Paul’s Church), Rev  Shoukat Peter (president Joint Churches of Jammu), Rev Issac Bhatti, Father Jose Vadakel of Catholic Church Jammu,  S M Gill (Ex MLC),  Feastus Sotra, Musrif Bhatti,  Tarsem Mashi,  Akbar,   Markus Nisar, Robin Bhatti, Johney Bhatti, Camres David, Younas Masih, Anthony Teji, Rohil Mattoo, Robin Bhatti, Sunny Khokhar, Margrete, Stephen David and others.
