Christmas celebrated with fanfare

JAMMU, Dec 24: Christmas was celebrated across Jammu region with great fanfare and zeal.
Vinayak Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, Kunjwani celebrated Christmas, in which staff and students participated actively. Chairman AD Singh highlighted the significance of the day focusing on the teaching of Christ, who even forgave his enemies.
Christmas was celebrated with great fervour and zeal at GD Goenka Public School. The programme began with the choir, presented by the junior as well as senior students, followed by dance performance. Principal Poonam Jha told that each child should follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
Christmas was celebrated at MHAC School Nagbani with great enthusiasm and zeal. Students were dressed as Santa Claus and Mother Mary. Christmas carols were sung by the significance of Christmas and the spirit of festivity and good will.
Christmas was celebrated at Delhi Public School with great enthusiasm and zeal. On the occasion, students presented various programmes including Christmas carols, dance and skit depicting the birth and life of Jesus Christ. Sudarshan Sonar, Principal enlightened the students by quoting the preaching of Jesus Christ.
SD Memorial Public Higher Secondary School, Karwanda celebrated Christmas with fanfare and zeal, in which staff and students participated actively. Youngsters attired as Santa Claus and fairies, decorated Christmas tree, followed by speeches, songs and dance.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar and its junior wing “KIDZEE” celebrated Christmas. Managing Director Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison Officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Sunita Koul and Coordinator Kawaljeet Kour in their speech threw light on the importance of the day.
UP Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat celebrated Christmas with zeal and enthusiasm, in which staff and students participated actively. Students attired as Santa Claus and fairies presented various cultural items. Principal Rajni Sharma threw light on the teachings of Lord Christ.
Vishwa Bharti Public Higher Secondary School, Akalpur celebrated Christmas with fanfare and zeal, in which staff and students participated actively. Students were dressed as Santa Claus and fairies. Principal BMS Pathania explained in detail the significance of the birthday of Lord Christ.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar celebrated Christmas with enthusiasm. The budding students presented speeches highlighting the importance of the celebration, followed by colourful cultural extravaganza. Rameshwar Mengi, Principal stressed upon to follow the path of fraternity, universal brotherhood and humanity in order to maintain global peace, progress and prosperity.
St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Barnai celebrated Christmas with great pomp and show. Students attired as Santa Claus and fairies presented various cultural items and also distributed sweets. Rev Udhay Singh of St Paul’s Church, Residency Road, SM Gill, Ex-MLC, Principal Pankaj impressed upon the students to follow the teachings of Lord Christ.

Wazir Janki Nath Memorial Higher Secondary School, Satwari and R Halcyon Kidz, New Plot celebrated Christmas. A special assembly was conducted, where students presented cultural extravaganza and exhibited the real spirit of Christmas. Director Himalni S Wazir was also present.

Students attired as Santa Claus and fairies presented various cultural items and also distributed sweets. Dewan Devi Playway School, Rajpura organised versatile activities to celebrate Christmas and New Year 2013. Toddlers attired as Santa Claus presented various cultural programme and distributed sweets and chocolates. Senior students also presented cultural items and mesmerized the audience. Chairman Subash Chander Suri advised the students to make nice resolutions for the coming New Year.
Youth Wing, All J&K Christians Forum under the chairmanship of its president, Dheeraj Matto, organised a musical programme at Amphalla to commemorate Christmas celebrations. On the occasion, Markes Gill, Chairman, Youth Wing, All J&K Christians Forum, was the chief guest, while Surinder Singh Shingari, Congress leader, was guest of honour. During the programme, mammoth gathering listened the music, followed by cake cutting ceremony.
District Congress Committee celebrated Christmas at Congress Headquarters. Om Chopra, district president, presided over the, who while speaking said that people should celebrate all the regional function to give example of unity. Vice president PCC Dharam Pal Sharma, Prof Hari Om, Sudhir, Surinder Singh Shingari, general secretary, Sukhdev Chowdhary, VK Sethi and Pawan Sharma were also present.
Chief Operating Officer, Bharti Airtel J&K Dharmender Khajuria along with other officials celebrated Christmas with the inmates of SOS Home. On the occasion, Airtel Santa presented gifts and goodies among the children.
