Chug drops enough hints of holding Assembly poll in April-May

Party asked to gear up

JAMMU, Dec 24: Announcing that Assembly elections will be held in between April-May next year, BJP national general secretary and incharge Jammu & Kashmir UT, Tarun Chug asked the party men to fully gear up for the polls from today.
Addressing a meeting of Party cells here today, the BJP national general secretary, said the party men should not lose any time and fully concentrate on strengthening the party from grassroots level. The party sources said that Chug dropped enough hints that much talked about Assembly elections in the UT can be held by April-May next year.
He said the BJP activists and leaders should organise public meetings right from booth level and have a liaison with the people belonging to all sections of the society, look into their problems and address them.

Sources said Chug stressed on holding constituency wise Samelans by party Morcha and Cells. “You have to work hard and take every section of the society along with you to ensure the victory of the party at the hustings,” he added.
He said the top national leaders will also visit J&K and take part in these Samelans to apprise the people of the welfare and developmental schemes of Narendra Modi Government.
Sources said that the BJP during the party meeting discussed the issue of daily wagers, Anganwadi workers, Rehbar -e -Khel and Rehbar -e-Janglat, PM package employees as well as Reserved Category employees and daily wagers. The UT leadership impressed upon the national leaders to take up the issue with Central Government as well as LG UT for finding an everlasting solution to these issues.
The prevailing law and order and political situation in the UT was also discussed by party leaders. Chug took a complete feedback from UT leadership on party activities as well as working of Morchas and Cells since the constitution of new team, sources added.
Later, talking to reporters outside the BJP office at Trikuta Nagar, Chug said it is the prerogative of Election Commission of India (ECI) to decide the date for holding of elections in the UT. However, BJP as a party is ready for elections every time, he added.
He said already the EC has done the exercise of Delimitation of constituencies, revision of voter lists and seeking of objections from the political parties. “The ECI is doing a speedy exercise in this regard and I hope that the Assembly elections will be held early,” he added.
Chug, in reply to a question about targeted killings in Kashmir by militants said that Narendra Modi Government reduced the number as well as age of militants. He made it clear that whosoever will try to kill the people and play with national cause will not be spared at any cost. “These people will be buried in graves”, he warned.
Chug said nobody will be allowed to disintegrate the nation and this Government will crush such forces with iron hands.
In response to another question that BJP had framed Committees on daily wagers, Reserve Category employees, Rehbar -e-Khel and Rehbar-e -Janglat, he said party met today and discussed the issue. “I am hopeful that some solution will be found to it”, he added.
On holding of Urban Local Bodies elections, he said this question should be posed to the Election Commission as BJP is always ready for poll.
On PM package employees, Chug said his party is always with them and issue was brought in his notice by UT leadership, the party will try to find a solution to it also.
