Chugh criticises Bangladesh for atrocities on minorities

NEW DELHI, Dec 16: Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation and Buddha Triratna Mission jointly organized a programme on the challenges of minority protection in Bangladesh here, today. Tarun Chugh, national general secretary, BJP, who spoke in the programme strongly criticized Bangladesh, Prime Minister, Yunus and his Government for the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. He said that Yunus has failed as Prime Minister.
Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Chairman, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, delivered the welcome address of the programme and highlighted the issues related to the protection of minorities in Bangladesh.
Dr. Ganguly said that incidents of attacks on temples, atrocities against women, and forced conversion are not only unfortunate but also tarnish the global image of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Government should take strict steps to stop these incidents. Earlier, at the beginning of the programme, retired Major General Anukul Chandra, , the hero of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, was honoured for his unique contribution. Dr. Kachayan Shramana general secretary, Buddha Triratna Mission said that the security of minorities in Bangladesh should be decided on a priority basis. He also emphasized the importance of peace and unity. Dipankar Sumedho, president, Buddhist Cultural Foundation expressed concern over the situation of minorities in Bangladesh and hoped that the situation there should be normal as soon as possible.
During the programme, a resolution was also passed unanimously by all the guests. In this resolution, it was mainly said “We are all seriously concerned about the current situation in Bangladesh. Strict action should be taken against the elements who are responsible for this entire situation and they should be punished. The security of all minorities in Bangladesh should be ensured.
