JAMMU, Nov 13: Questioning the Congress’ silence on the National Conference’s (NC) demand to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and Incharge J&K and Ladakh UTs,Tarun Chugh today urged the Congress to clarify its stance on the controversial Article.

Addressing a party’s membership drive review meeting at BJP Headquarters at Trikuta Nagar here, Chugh asserted that the National Conference, under Abdullah’s leadership, seems to align with “Pakistan’s ISI-driven agenda”.
He also pointed out that with Congress recently allying with the National Conference in the J&K elections “The public deserves to know if Congress endorses this Pakistan-supported agenda of restoring Article 370 which has been root cause of all problems in J&K for last seven decades”.
The BJP national general secretary said that at a time when the people of J&K are focused on development and progress, actively supporting various schemes launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the NC-Congress alliance is instead promoting a divisive agenda that risks fuelling separatism and terrorism once again.
Chugh condemned their “nefarious objectives” aimed at compromising India’s integrity, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He also noted that recent Assembly session has been unproductive, with continuous disruptions preventing meaningful discussion on development issues. “Instead of debating public issue and settling them the NC leadership brought resolution on Article 370 which has been buried once and for all”, he added. “Omar Abdullah should prioritize the development of Jammu and Kashmir. Instead, he is misleading the people and neglecting his fundamental responsibilities as a leader. The nation is watching the National Conference’s unconstitutional efforts closely,” Chugh remarked, while criticizing Abdullah’s leadership.
Chugh further underscored the BJP’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s unity and fostering development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. He called on the National Conference and Congress to abandon divisive tactics and work for the region’s progress. “The BJP remains resolute in its mission to protect the nation’s unity and integrity. We will not allow any attempts to undermine India’s sovereignty and will continue to advocate for the rights and development of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Chugh affirmed.
The BJP leader reiterated the Modi Government’s resolve to have zero tolerance on corruption, terrorism and separatism. He said BJP Government has taken drastic action against the corrupt people, gangsters, criminals and terrorists who are eating up vitals of the society.
Chugh said BJP stands for a strong and united India and it will not allow those organizations to succeed in their designs who want to disintegrate India.
He said unity is the greatest power in the country and Prime Minister , Narendra Modi always talks about strong and united India. “Our party is committed not only to strong India but to make country a great power in the world”, he added.
The BJP leader taking a jibe at Congress and its president Malikarjun Kharge said it is not known after BJP Government has tightened its noose on corrupt elements, land grabbers, criminals why Congress party and its leadership is getting upset. This shows that there is a link of the party with such elements in the country otherwise there is no reason for the party to react over such actions.
He said BJP wants a change in Jharkhand where first phase of polling was held today. The party wants to rid the State of corruption and nepotism and to take the State on the path of development and progress. “I appeal people of the State to vote enmass for BJP and provide the party a chance to serve the people. With double engine Government the BJP will take Jharkhand to touch new heights”, he added.
