SRINAGAR, Dec 19: Senior BJP leaders have taken serious exception to statement of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former CM, Mehbooba Mufti for her recent outbursts and termed her statement totally seditious.
BJP national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, who is also the party in charge for J&K and Ladakh, today warned Mehbooba Mufti for inciting the public sentiments against the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on abrogation of Article 370.
Strongly condemning her statement saying that the Supreme Court verdict was “not God’s verdict” Chugh said Mehbooba was indirectly trying to incite people of J&K against the Constitutional institutions.
Chugh questioned if she was doing it at the behest of the Pakistan ISI forces. He said it is time for her to start talking about Indian nationalism instead of looking across the borders to her mentors to mislead the people of J&K.
Chugh said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s policies and programmes have started a new chapter in J&K following which terrorism has been stamped out to give way to tourism. People are looking for their growth and prosperity and are not prepared to fall prey to the politically misleading narrative of Muftis and Abdullahs.
BJP J&K spokesperson and ex MLC Girdhari Lal Raina while lambasting Mehbooba Mufti said PDP and its chairperson is turning to politics of acrimony, disruption and social unrest. Statements of Mehbooba Mufti are increasingly and fiercely aimed to spread disaffection and disquiet besides attempting to hurt nation’s economic interests, he added.
Terming her statement explosive and inflammatory he said it has clearly endeavoured to incite countrymen and arouse emotions on narrow and divisive agenda.
BJP spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia in his response to the recent pronouncements of the PDP regarding Lithium resources in Jammu & Kashmir challenged the PDP’s selective outrage. Jasrotia pointed out the crucial fact is that the Lithium deposits reside in Jammu and not in Kashmir. He emphasized, “It seems for some, the world stops at the borders of Kashmir, neglecting the aspirations of millions living in Jammu.”
Senior BJP and KP leader, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo also castigated Mehbooba regarding return of Article 370. In a statement issued today he said her statement regarding the return of so called Article 370 is a new ploy to further public opinion in J&K. Article 370 is a thing of past and has been put in the dustbin of history, he added.
