JAMMU, May 29: Accusing BJP of being the most treacherous party that kept aside all its ideology, principles and values only for its lust to enjoy power, the SOS International chairman Rajiv Chuni today sought to know the fate of promises made by the party to Displaced Persons during the last Lok Sabha elections.
“During one year of its rule in Centre, BJP has totally sidelined the issue of PoK Displaced Persons who were assured by the party of resolving their issues and problems,” he said while addressing a press conference, here today.
Mr Chuni claimed that the PoK DPs had voted BJP candidates wholeheartedly during 2014 general elections with a ray of hope and looking at the commitment of BJP to resolve their long pending demands but nothing has been done on ground during the last one year of this Government. “Two sessions of Parliament were held since BJP took the reins of nation but both Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP Jammu- Poonch Lok Sabha seat and Dr Jitendra Singh, MP Udhampur – Doda Lok Sabha seat, have never raised or even mentioned the issues of PoK DPs in Lok Sabha, other forums or any public arena,” he alleged.
The SOS International chairman was also at pain over various relief packages being extended to Kashmiri Pandits. “Modi Government has brought several schemes for the KP migrants for their return to Valley, which is very much part of India and has a democratically elected Government but on the other hand, nothing is being done for the PoK DPs whose ancestral land is still in the illegal occupation of Pakistan for the last 7 decades”, Chuni added and reiterated the demand for one time permanent settlement of the community.
S O S International general secretary, Dr Gurmeet Singh alleged that biased approach was being adopted by all the successive Governments towards PoK DPs. “Why there are two yard sticks in tackling Valley Migrants and PoK DPs?” he asked.
J S Mangal, Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Virinder Khajuria, Vinay Sharma, S P Gupta, Sanjay Kohli and Rajesh Sharma were also present in the press conference.
