JAMMU, Dec 3: Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) G R Sufi has granted 30 days time to the FAA and PIO of J&K Police Headquarters to furnish information to the applicant regarding unmarked graves and disappeared persons.
The time was granted by the CIC while disposing of 2nd appeal filed by Khurram Parvez against the inaction of Rajinder Gupta, DIG (Adm)/FAA Police Headquarters to pass order on his 1st appeal. The time of 30 days was granted after the FAA submitted before the Commission, “we are on job to implement the directions of the Commission but the nature of the information sought is so intricate and it is spread over all the districts of State therefore inspite of best efforts the information has not been fully collected”.
Taking holistic view and keeping under consideration the submission of the FAA, the CIC provided further time of 30 days and directed that the order on the 1st appeal be passed without fail within 30 days from the receipt of this order.
“The Commission is constrained to bring to the notice of the FAA and PIO the provisions of Section 17 of the Act and provisions as contained in Ranbir Penal Code for taking necessary coercive action for getting the orders of the Commission implemented”, the CIC said in the order, adding “the Commission expects that before any such action is resorted to, the mandate of the Act would be honoured by the FAA and the PIO as has been done earlier with regard to number of decisions passed by the Commission pertaining to the same public authority”.
