CIC operators write to LG over regularization

Srinagar, July 23: CIC operators working in the Rural Development Department (RDD) who are seeking regularization of their services and a hike in their salaries have written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, seeking his interference in the matter.
“172 CIC Operators working in Rural Development Department, on contractual basis since 2004 are withdrawing a peanut amount of Rs 10,000 per month i.e (Rs 333 per day) on account of salary and that constrains us to live a miserable and distressful life,” the letter written to the LG, reads.
They also said that they have sent in several applications through email recent for an appointment with the LG but have not heard from the Raj Bhavan.
The letter addressed to the LG stated that in the year 2017, the Empowered Committee of the J&K Government cleared their cases for regularization under the Special Provision Act 2010, but to no avail.
The CIC operators have stated that in June this year, the RDD was advised by the GAD to put the cases of the CIC Operators before the Establishment & Selection Committee of Jammu & Kashmir Govt, which, they said, is a time-consuming process.
“The process will take years altogether and almost all the incumbents have crossed the age of 45 years and above; 172 posts of data entry operators were created by GAD in 2016 and also, the cases were cleared by the Empowered Committee of J&K Govt. in 2017,” the letter reads.
The CIC Operators in the letter have requested the LG to intervene in the matter and issue necessary instructions for the regularization of 172 CIC operators.
