JAMMU, Jan 25: The State Taxes Enforcement Teams, under the instructions of Commissioner, State Taxes, PK Bhat and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement), Mohammed Shahid Saleem, conducted day long extensive inspections of all the retailers cum dealers of cigarettes, here today.
The five enforcement teams visited different areas of Jammu City and conducted inspections of the dealers including M/s SP Confectionery, M/s Friends Cigarettes, M/s Bawa Ji General Store, Bus Stand, Jammu, M/s Kapil Traders, Panjtirthi, M/s Kuldeep Raj, Indira Chowk, M/s Jai Durga, Opposite SMGS Hospital, M/s Chaman Pan House, Opposite SMGS Hospital, M/s Gandotra Pan House, Kachi Chowni, M/s Anand Pan House, Parade, M/s Sharma Pan House, Parade, M/s Lucky Pan House, Shahidi Chowk, M/s Sawhney Pan House, Parade, M/s Sidhi Vinayak & Co., M/s Shanu Tea Stall, M/s Chourasiya Pan House, M/s Gupta Pan House, M/s Baba Pan Bhandar, Janipur, M/s Chaurasia Pan Bhandar, Trikuta, Nagar, M/s Varsha Trading Co., Satwari, M/s Vijay Kiryana Store, Nai Basti, M/s BD Chourasiya, Talab Tillo and M/s Ashu Cigarette, Jammu.
All the dealers whose Cigarettes & Tobacco stocks, have been seized, on the suspicion of having evaded the GST, have been issued the prescribed INS-02 notice as provided under law.
Further investigations are being carried out by the inspection teams and every effort is being made by the State Taxes Department to track the trail of illegal import of cigarettes, its dumping and further transmission to retailers.
Spokesman of the State Taxes Department appealed the traders fraternity and the shopkeepers who sell the cigarettes to ensure receipt of tax invoices of the stocks purchased & held by them for sale on their business premises.
The dealers, whose stocks have been seized, have been asked by the inspection teams to deposit the GST purchase bills with the respective circles for scrutiny and further legal course.
The inspection teams also seized the desktops of M/s Natural Mega Mart and M/s J.K. Enterprises, Paharian Mohalla for scrutiny as the Enforcement Teams of the Department, had seized non-GST bills issued by the firm at Kishtwar / Bhaderwah & Doda from retailers.
The Department has appealed all the wholesalers at Jammu and other areas to sell their products to retailers through GST invoices only and the retailers have also been advised to not receive products without GST invoices.
The inspecting teams included State Taxes Officers Abdul Rehman, Mohd Riyaz, Neeraj Sharma, Mohit Raina, Nagesh Singh, Narinder Singh and the State Taxes Inspectors Sandip Saraf, Shrawan Kumar, Amit Jain, Sameer Ahmed, Rajinder Paul, Kuldeep Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Deepak Sharma, Vikram Singh and Sub-Inspectors Naresh Sharma, Yogeshwar Saini and Surinder Singh Pawar.
