JAMMU, Apr 16: To discuss critical reforms in the region’s industrial power sector, a delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), J&K led by its Chairman, Dr M A Alim met with Yasin Choudhary, Managing Director (MD) of Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) here today.
The delegation comprising J P Singh (Grower and Weil) and Sunil Gupta (Aeron Corp), stressed the need for predictable energy access to boost industrial productivity and investment in J&K.
The delegation discussed on the various aspects, pros and cons of the smart metering for industries to reduce losses and a variable daytime tariff for units with solar grids to incentivize renewable energy use.
These measures aim to balance grid efficiency and sustainability while cutting operational costs for businesses.
Additionally, the delegation requested that industries be exempt from scheduled power cuts during summer months to prevent losses.
Dr Alim thanked Choudhary for giving the CII delegation a patient hearing and for the constructive engagement, stressing the need for continued collaboration between JPDCL and industries.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to prioritize reliable power supply as a catalyst for industrial growth in J&K.
