CII delegation gives representation to DC

SAMBA, Aug 27: CII J&K State Council members delegation met Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda and presented a representation on the issues concerning the industry in Samba industrial area.
Referring to the problem faced by the industries alongside the river Basanter in phase-1 Industrial area Samba, the members said that unit holders are facing huge problem as the water enters the industrial units and spoils machines & material due to erosion of banks of river Basantar during rainy season.
Harbinder Singh, co-converner, Samba Core Group, CII J&K State Council raised the connectivity issue between Industrial Area Phase I & II and stressed upon the need of constructing a link road as at present there is only one road for the movement of vehicles from Industrial Area Phase 1 & 2 in Samba that passes through the town/market and leads to traffic congestion. He said there is only one lineman in Samba who is covering both industrial areas and city. He suggested that at least a dedicated lineman should be deployed to cater to the needs of industrial areas in Samba.
He also stressed upon the need of greening of Samba city & industrial areas and suggested that the local administration and CII could jointly start the plantation drive in Samba city and Industrial Area as it will held in preventing pollution level.
Gaurav Khajuria, Co-Convener, CII J&K Skills & Education Panel stressed upon the need of aligning the curriculum of ITI with the industry in Samba to bridge the skill gap and the ITI pass outs get the job in local industry. He also proposed to link this with Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana where the existing students could be trained in their areas to get locally employed.
JP Singh, senior member of CII J&K State Council said that the Banglad border road passes through the phase 2 Industrial Area that is badly damaged due to rains. Since the road comes under the PWD authorities, it was requested to ask the concerned officials to repair the road at the earliest. He also demanded to improve internet connectivity as BSNL authorities have not taken desired steps.
Surinder Singh, Head CII J&K apprised the DC about the incomplete nullah that carries the sewerage waste of the whole of city near industrial area and over flown sewerage waste spill all around due to no further passage and enters the industrial units, spoil their material and damage their machinery besides irritating foul smell all over the area. He suggested that the Rural Engineering Wing be advised to change the nullah route so that the industry should not suffer.
Ms Nanda listened to the issues calmly and told the delegation members that all the issues are relevant and in her knowledge. She assured the delegation that she will take up these issues with the relevant authorities and try to get them resolved at the earliest possible time.
