JAMMU, Sept 17: A CII delegation led by Rajesh Sharma, chairman, CII J&K called on Sudhanshu Pandey, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce (GoI) and Rajendra Ratnoo, Joint Secretary, DPIIT for discussing the contemporary industrial scenario in J&K and requested them to work towards the industrial growth and development of J&K and Ladakh.
It was emphasized that there is a need to spread awareness about various Government schemes and aids that are available but not reaching the stakeholders through seminars, workshops & structured interventions in the two UTs.
Nawang Thinless, Chairman, CII Ladakh Zone shared his views about sustainable development of Tourism Sector in Ladakh including the formulation of Eco-Tourism Policy, tourism infrastructure projects, improved mobility & basic facilities, preservation of existing historical heritage of the region, promotion of rural tourism and the establishment of mountaineering institute in Leh for the youth of the region.
Special incentives to young local entrepreneurs to setup tourism projects and allocation of requisite funds for the promotion of Ladakh tourism at global level was also deliberated upon. The fertile land of the newly carved Union Territories that is suitable for the growth of many medicinal and aromatic plants was also explored during the discussions.
