JAMMU, Sept 14: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a session on growing business opportunities for Young Entrepreneurs with the Department of The Business School, (TBS) University of Jammu here today.
Sujiv Jain, Managing Director of a local foods unit joined as the guest speaker for the session. The broad objective of the session was to educate students about the thrust areas of entrepreneurship and growing opportunities ranging from food processing to agriculture so that they can build upon the entrepreneurial competencies that are sector specific.
Speaking on the occasion, Jain, explained the need for management professionals to define their ideas and put them on ground and seek experiential learning, with a view to enhance their employability.
He said, “It is interesting to mention that entrepreneurs by establishing small-scale enterprises contribute 35 per cent of gross value of the output in the manufacturing sector, about 80 per cent of the total industrial employment and about 40 per cent of total exports of the country.”
He also insisted that it is relevant for the students to explore the latest trends in national and international business to seek lucrative business opportunities that may be tapped in line with their competencies and skills.
While appreciating the efforts of CII, Prof Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School JU, said, “The intention of such sessions is to make students realise the importance of entrepreneurship for sustainable development.
