JAMMU, Feb 22: Confederation of Indian Industry organized a conference on ‘Re-imagine J&K-Turning potential to opportunities’ with Government leaders, officials and Industry members with an aim to accelerate the speedy development and promotion of key sectors acknowledged by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sameer Gupta, Chairman, CII Northern Region and Managing Director, Jakson Limited congratulated the Government for a new version of J&K and suggested that employment creation needs a strategic boost and the key sectors to be propelled for more job generation include the tourism ecosystem, infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, information technology and agriculture and food processing sector.
Ravi Shankar Sharma, Additional Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, discussed the need of infrastructure development and urbanization in J&K. He also emphasized on the new investments in housing and urban sector.
Sajad Hussain Ganai, Director Technical Education articulated that Industry has a close connection with technical education and an interface between industry and academia is an essential requirement for generating industry required human resource.
Shafat Sultan, Managing Director, JKHPMC deliberated on Horticulture as the mainstay of J&K economy and discussed the pre and post harvest management techniques and other innovative technologies needed for the high density growth of the sector.
Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor who was chief guest, appreciated the efforts of CII for organizing the conference on such ideated theme-turning potential to opportunities. He said, UT of J&K will flourish in the coming time and the JK Global Investors’ Summit is the first step towards achieving the dream of developed J&K. He also shared great ideas with young business entrepreneurs on specialty branding and thereby creating new avenues.
Farooq Amin, newly elected Chairman of CII J&K Council stated that the newly constituted Union Territory (UT) Jammu & Kashmir has immense potential to become the economic power-house of the country. Ravnish Gulati, newly elected Vice-Chairman also spoke on the occasion.
