JAMMU, Jan 17: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Young Indians (Yi), along with J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), organized a panel discussion on “Start Up India : Stand Up India” , here at Jammu.
The panel deliberated on the need for promotion of Start-Up culture in the State, bank financing for start-ups, incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job creation, and other challenges faced by the Start Ups.
Chander Parkash Gupta, Chairman, CII J&K State Council and Chairman & Managing Director, J&K Heritage Resorts Pvt Ltd, said that every youngster should dream big, have passion for their dreams and work towards converting them into success. He shared his experience of becoming one of the most successful Start-Up in J&K. He further said that J&K Government should provide better eco-system to promote and boost Start Ups in J&K to encourage our youth towards entrepreneurship so that they can become self-reliant and also add to the State GDP.
Dr M I Parray, Director, JKEDI, said that his institution is dedicated to the Start Ups in J&K and has helped in establishing 6300 Start Ups since 2009, amongst that 84 percent are fully functional which is an achievement in itself. He highlighted the challenges of Start Ups particularly in the field of financial support from banks and other financial institutions.
A K Razdan, DGM, State Bank of India, said that their bank was always positive on setting the Start Ups in the State. R K Gupta, Chief Manager, Punjab National Bank, said that they were helping youth and women entrepreneurs for any financial help through more than 100 branches in the State. Head of J&K Bank said that their bank is already prepared to help young entrepreneurs for boosting State economy.
A Start Up from Jammu, Rachna Dubey, proprietor, Giriraj Bakers & Snackers, shared her experience with the participants.
Sanjay Puri, past Chairman, CII J&K, State Council and Managing Director, PBI Industries, moderated the session.
The session was attended by over 40 participants from Government and industry including 30 Start Ups from Jammu & Kashmir.
