Cine star Rahul Bhat to work for revival of Kashmir culture

JAMMU, Jan 18: Cine star, Rahul Bhat who is on a two -days visit to Jammu today said that he will make all efforts for revival of ancient Kashmiri culture among the displaced Pandits.
Rahul Bhat while Talking to media persons here, this afternoon, along with president Pir Panchal, Ramesh Hangloo and Director Vomed Theatre, Rohit Bhat, said Kashmiri Pandits who belong to a rich cultural heritage are on the verge of extinction as the mass exodus has played havoc with the community and the entire community was de-linked from its moorings.
“As we belong to a rich heritage so we are duty bound to keep our culture alive”, Rahul Bhat said, adding theatre, music and other cultural activities can play a great role in this regard.
Terming the claims made by certain quarters about the return of Pandits a mere dream which will hardly be realized, Rahul Bhat said that the situation is not conducive for the same. “When the PM can’t visit Valley without heavy security bandobast “I think there is no logic in making claims about the return and rehabilitation of community in their homes and hearts in Valley”, he added.
He said the politicians who talk about the return of community to Valley are only selling false dreams and he does not believe in selling such dreams.
Bhat said he has not come here to sell false dreams but work for keeping ancient culture of Kashmir alive and in this regard he will start shooting of Kashmiri feature film from February 15 next month “Hell with Heaven”.
Maintaining that he loves his motherland Kashmir most as he was born in Valley and got initial schooling from there, Bhat said he is not among those who did not live in Kashmir and suddenly developed love for that place.
Bhat is here in connection with staging of Kashmiri play Ek Aur Birbal, directed by Rohit Bhat of Vomed Theatre. Terming it an historic play he said the people should come in large numbers to see it.
Rahul Bhat said he will work in the field of culture and make a Kashmiri feature film every year.
Earlier giving introduction Pir Panchal president Ramesh Hangloo said that Vomed Theatre and his organisation is dedicating January 19 as Renaissance of Culture.
He said they will approach the Union Government for support and help in staging the play all over the country so that the importance of protecting the Northern borders is understood. The play has been written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat. Hangloo said the play will also be staged at global level and commandant Sanjay Koul has been designated as national convener for India. He also demanded that the Sharda Shrine in Pak be declared as monument site and preserved by UNISCO and Abhinav Gupt’s cave in Budgam Kashmir be declared as national monument.
Aryan Ramesh and Kamal Wali both social activists were also present in the press conference.
