JAMMU, Feb 26: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) held a massive protest here today against the anti poor and pro rich policies of both State and Central Governments which has broken the back of the working class.
The protestors who blocked the road for about half an hour at Indira Chowk raising slogans in support of their demands said the Government was adopting pro imperialist policies which were against the interests of working class, poor and down trodden people of the country and State.
The demonstration among others was addressed by CPI(M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam, Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami and other senior leaders of CITU.
Highlighting the problems of casual labourers, daily wagers, consolidated employees and other daily rated workers, Tarigami demanded their immediate regularization. He said the ITI casual labourers be regularized after completion of five years and other causal workers who are working in different departments of the State be also regularized as some of them even after 15 to 19 years of their service have not been regularized which is a grave injustice with them.
Tarigami said that the Government should have a firm regularization policy and demanded Rs 10,000 monthly wages for daily wagers.
