City Master Plans under revision: Jora

JAMMU, Mar 20: Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora while replying to a question of Devender Singh Rana informed the House that Jammu and Srinagar Master Plans-2021 are under revision for horizon period 2031 and 2032, respectively.
Mr. Jora said that the final draft of the revised master plans is in advance stage of preparation and will be put for public objections and suggestions shortly.
While replying to another question of Dharambir Singh, the Minister informed the House that none of the traffic signal lights out of the 31 installed in Srinagar city is defunct.
He further said during warranty period the defected lights are repaired by the agency to which contract of installation is accorded, thereafter they are repaired by Municipal Corporation out of its own resources.
Mr. Jora further informed the House that a proposal is being formulated for installation of safety lights for pedestrians to cross the road as well as installation of traffic lights in leftover intersection junctions.
Replying to another question of Ajat Shatru Singh, the Minister informed the House that ISBT Narwal and Khapur Nagrota are ready and have already been notified by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD). It is the responsibility to Transport Department to ensure shifting to Khapur.
He further said that all the vehicle owners/operators operating from General Bus Stand, B. C Road have been directed to shift at interstate bus terminal, Narwal for operation for their services. Similarly, all the vehicle owners / operators of Banihal service group have been directed to shift their vehicles at Bus Stand Khapur Nagrota.
