Is it not customary for meat selling shopkeepers to get the goat, sheep etc tested from a Veterinary Doctor before slaughtering them to sell as meat.? We nowhere find the available meat in the shops bearing the seal of the designated veterinary or municipal authorities certifying about the genuineness about the health and disease free state in respect of the slaughtered animal. Instead of going to abattoirs to get the animal slaughtered and have it verified under a seal from the designated official, most of the butchers are doing it all at their shops . It could not be a generalized situation but it is a common practice. The municipal and health authorities must conduct surprise raids to check the menace of slaughtering animals at near shops.
