SRINAGAR, Oct 13: A joint delegation of Civil and Mechanical Graduate Engineers led by Farooq Ahmed Ganie (President, J&K CEGA) and Firdous Ahad Bhat, (President, J&K MEGA), today met the Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Dr Haseeb Drabu in his office chambers in Civil Secretariat Srinagar for redressal of long pending issues faced by the engineering community.
The delegation apprised the Minister about the long pending issues confronting the fraternity like approval of running grades (Assured Career Progression), pay anomaly / disparity at all levels and enhancement in fixed travel allowance from Rs 30 per month to Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per month.
The delegation also apprised the Minister about the menace of adhocism that is prevalent in these departments and requested him about the redressal and removal of pay disparity at par with other professions such as Health, Veterinary Deptt, etc. The delegation also demanded the implementation of running grades to whole engineering community for improving the morale of the engineering community.
A joint memorandum of J&K Civil Engineering Graduates Association (J&K CEGA) and J&K Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association ( J&K MEGA) was submitted to the Minister in this regard.
Mr Drabu gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them the speedy redressal of all these issues, particularly the implementation of ‘Running Grades (Assured Career Progression)” and removal of the pay anomalies and enhancement of TA before the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.
The delegation included the Executive and Guidance Council members of both Associations, namely Basharat Ahmad Kawoosa, Ashaq Ahmad Ashaq, Shakeel-u-Rahman, Muzaffar Ahmad Jan, Ansar Hamid Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, Faisal Farooq, Umar Jan, Ajaz Ahmad.
