KATHUA, Sept 6: The protest dharna of Civil Society Kathua continued at Hatli Morh, Industrial Estate against the establishment of Red Category Industry in the populated areas.
The members of Civil Society including women are on protest against the Red Category Industry which is going to be set up adjoining the populated area.
Woman protesters, Suman Kumari, and Neelam Kumari said that the pollution is increasing day by day in Industrial Estate Kathua where school, banks, other office have been opened and National Highway is also adjoining it. The Government is not adopting any norm to control the pollution and Red Category Cement based Klinker Industry is invited to install its unit here on the cost of human lives, they added.
They pointed out that why not Industrial Estate is adopting the norms as per SICOP Ghatti and Bio Tech Park Ghatti where only Green and Orange category industry is planned to setup keeping in view the environment threat. But such norms are not adopted by Government officials before giving permission to Red Category Industry, they alleged.
They warned the Government to stop anti humanity practice otherwise it will face dire consequences as recently in Punjab’s Batala city where a fire cracked unit claimed lives of 23 innocent people which was running in populated area.
