Civil Society of Old Janipur raises demands

JAMMU, Nov 29: A meeting of J&K Civil Society Development Action Committee of Old Janipur, JDA Park was held here today under the chairmanship of Kulwant Singh Sambyal.
The Committee members in the meeting discussed the issues and demands of the area and demanded installation of CCTV cameras connected to Police Station and chopping off of the overspread branches of big trees from the Park to Ram Vihar Mohalla of Old Janipur and Mohalla Shant Nagar.
Other demands were repair of lanes and drains, blacktopping of roads in Mohalla Shant Nagar, Pandoka Colony, Indra Vihar, Kabir Nagar and surrounding areas of JDA Park in Old Janipur.
The prominent issue discussed in the meeting was that of disturbance caused in the adjoining areas to the Park by the playing of cricket, football, cycling, stray dogs and openly drinking of liquor and all those present in the meeting demanded that such activities should be stopped.
The Committee members in the meeting also said that maximum lights in the Park were not working and demanded proper repair and maintenance of these.
They said that a watchman should be appointed in the Park and a Nag temple should be constructed in the centre of the Park along with a hut for the senior citizens to take rest.
Still another demand raised was that of ambulance at Mohalla Ram Vihar Dispensary.
The Committee members urged upon the concerned authorities to look into the issues and resolve them at the earliest.
