Civilian killed, 7 hurt in attack

Srinagar, Sept 12: Militants today hurled a grenade on a police post in South Kashmir killing one civilian and injuring seven others including 5 police men.
Militants lobbed a grenade on police post Sherbagh in Anantnag town injuring eight persons including 5 police men. One of the civilians, Bilal Ahmad, injured during the attack later succumbed in the hospital.
Five police men including a Sub-Inspector (SI) was injured in the attack. The SI was referred to Srinagar for treatment.
Senior police and para-military officials reached the spot to assess the situation.
A police spokesman said that this evening militants hurled a grenade upon police post Sherbagh in the jurisdiction of police station Anantnag, resulting in on spot death of one civilian Bilal Ahmad Shah and injuries to In-charge police post SI Feroz Ahmad and five other constables who have been indentified as Zahoor Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad, Eisa Ahmad and Ali Mohammad.
“The injured were shifted to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment where from five of the injured including the In-charge police post have been referred to 92 Base camp Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment”, the spokesman added.
