SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Chief Justice of State High Court, Justice M M Kumar today handed over large quantity of relief items to the J&K Yateem Trust through its Member Z A Tak.
The relief material including shawls, trousers, clothes, ladies suits, biscuits, tooth paste, tooth brushes, soaps, oil cases and shoes, was received from Chandigarh on the initiative of the Chief Justice.
Yesterday, Chief Justice handed over one truckload of rice, flour, water cases, clothes, biscuits, shoes, etc to the J&K Yateem Trust, Tatto Ground, Srinagar, at makeshift High Court building.
All the relief material has been received from Chandigarh and Punjab on the initiative of Justice M M Kumar, which is being considered as a good gesture by the judiciary to help the victims of unprecedented floods.
Earlier also, by the personal efforts of the Chief Justice, two trucks of relief material was distributed in Srinagar whereas two truckload of relief material was sent to Rajouri and Poonch districts for distribution amongst the sufferers.
Besides, the Chief Justice has also taken initiatives to distribute the relief material to the employees of the High Court and even some Advocates whose houses were badly affected by the floods.
The Chief Justice has also ordered release of Rs 10,000 each to 123 flood affected Advocates of Srinagar on the request of  High Court Bar Association Srinagar.
The Bar Association had submitted the list of Advocates, who have been badly affected by the recent floods and Chief Justice has directed payment of Rs 10,000 out of the Lawyers Welfare Fund.
Meanwhile, considering the miseries and sufferings of the employees of the High Court and the Subordinate Courts of the State in the recent floods, Chief Justice has directed payment of one month’s advance salary in favour of all the gazetted and non-gazetted employees of the High Court and the Subordinate Courts of the State.
The advance salary has been ordered to be released because many employees have either lost their houses and belonging or have suffered major losses to their properties. The payment of one month’s advance salary would definitely enable them to coup up with the extra expenses, which they have to incur on their lost belongings.
The advance salary has been directed to be recovered in six equal installments starting from November.
