SRINAGAR, Apr 9: A special plantation drive organized by the Forest Department was kicked off by Chief Justice M.M. Kumar here today.
The plantation of Deodar saplings was carried out at the newly constructed Saddar Court complex at Moominabad.
Emphasizing for the plantation of trees, the Chief Justice said that plants have a pivotal role in maintaining ecological balance as well as sustaining of life on the earth, besides are the source of various economically important medicines. He also highlighted the role of plants in the eco system.
Among others Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Justice Ghulam Hasnain Masoodi, Justice Ali Mohammad Magray and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mohammad Shafi Khan also participated in the plantation drive.
Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle, Nisar Ahmad was also present on the occasion.
