CJ to visit Goushala on June 2

PIL highlighting dilapidated condition of cattle pound

JAMMU, May 31: Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Justice N Kotiswar Singh will visit cattle pound/Goushala at village Seri Khurd in Nagrota on June 2 to ascertain its condition.
The announcement was made while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting the dilapidated condition of cattle pound.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Supriya Chouhan and Mohd Zuilkar Nain Chowdhary for the PIL, Division Bench headed by Chief Justice further directed that Commissioner JMC, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Municipal Vertinary Officer JMC, Advocates of both sides, petitioner Chairperson SAVE Devinder Kour Madaan alias Rimpy Madaan shall also remain present during the visit.
Earlier, Advocate SS Ahmed pointed out that the petitioner and Advocate Supriya Chouhan conducted a surprise visit of the cattle pound on April 8, 2023 and witnessed the dilapidated condition of Goushala. The animals were locked during the broad day light in the four sheds and they were not left open for grazing. Advocate Ahmed further submitted that the whole surprise visit was video-graphed and the video has been placed on record through a proper application.
On the request of Advocate Ahmed, Division Bench, in the open court, watched the video and after going through the entire video showing the sorry state of affairs of Goushala, the Chief Justice said, “we would like to visit the cattle pound/ Goushala on June 2, 2023 at 4:00 PM”.
