NEW DELHI, July 5 : President Droupadi Murmu on Friday honoured 36 bravehearts of the Armed Forces, Central Police Forces and State Police Forces who made supreme sacrifice while protecting the motherland with gallantry awards at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
As many as ten bravehearts were awarded Kirti Chakras out of which seven were awarded posthumously and 26 were awarded Shaurya Chakras that included seven posthumously.
Those honoured with Kirti Chakra include Central Reserve Police Force Inspector Dilip Kumar Das, Head Constable Rajkumar Yadav, Constable Bablu Rabha and Constable Shambhu Roy, all were given this honor posthumously.
Moreover, Constable Pawan Kumar of Rashtriya Rifles, Captain Anshuman Singh of Army Medical Corps and Havildar Abdul Majid of Army Parachute Regiment were also awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously.
Major Digvijay Singh Rawat of the Army’s Parachute Regiment, Major Deependra Vikram Basnet of the Sikh Regiment and Naib Subedar Pawan Kumar Yadav of the Mahar Regiment were also awarded the Kirti Chakra.
Constable Safiullah Qadri of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Major Vikas Bhambhu of Army, Major Mustafa Bohara, Rifleman Kulbushan Manta of Rashtriya Rifles, Havildar Vivek Singh Tomar of Rajputana Rifles, Rifleman Alok Rao of Assam Rifles and Captain MV Pranjal of Rashtriya Rifles were posthumously awarded Shaurya Chakra.
Those attended the ceremony were Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, senior Army officers along with other dignitaries. (UNI)
